GRATITUDE…an emotion of being thankful

GRATITUDE…an emotion of being thankfulOn this special day … I was feeling so exceptional and was on cloud nine … so much so that I was glowing even without makeup…😉 On this day everything that I loved was given to me and many things that I did not even expect or think of happened…I felt like a Queen 👸 in a fairytale…then alas … it just hit me so hard when I realised how many people had taken the efforts to make my Birthday 🎉 such a dream day for me….

As the day ended the feeling of accomplishment was overwhelming and I felt very blessed thats when I actually started counting my blessings…and it was just around that time my dearest friend Kavitha called me to give me some food for thought … she said that I should do something special in return for all those wonderful people who had made my day so Special and Memorable.

As I was trying to navigate as to how I should start this and then I remembered a verse from Ralph Waldo Emerson saying:

“Cultivate the habit of being grateful for every good thing that comes to you, and to give thanks continuously. And because all things have contributed to your advancement, you should include all things in your gratitude.”

How many of us really are grateful??

To me Gratitude is an emotion of being thankful … being thankful makes us feel so contented that you actually become selfless and there is no expectations set in return for every action we do. Most of us get so engrossed in our routine lives; every thing we do is so materialistic that sometimes we tend to loose out on all the intangibles … is it because we take everything around us for granted…???

I think this may be the reason why we celebrate some special days in our lives like birthdays, anniversaries, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day etc to have a focused thought and have sense of gratefulness and be thankful.

I dedicate this blog to all the people who made my Birthday this year so special.

My parents – Padma , Ananth and Jayanthi Love of my life – Sriram                                       My Team – Ananth, Sridhar, Rahul and Harshitha

TILT Team – Ian Faria, Kavitha, Sandhya, Saikat, Venkat, Sam, Anjana,Vinod, Manjula,  Su, John, Nila, Kayan, Archie, Shruthi and all the amazing people in the tilting group

Ashwini’s Affirmation: Life is short … Count your blessings.
And remember – It’s not happiness that makes life grateful but its gratefulness that makes life happy.
I wish everyone a grateful, happy life.

Self Motivation

This is the post excerpt.

Going by the say by Maya Angelou – “Nothing will work unless you do.” . Its you who decides where , when  and how you want to be placed in any given situation. There is no age to start anything new in the life. There is nothing right or wrong. Everything is the state of mind and should not be linked to stage of life. Most of the time what happens in our life is shaped by our state of mind..it creates the feelings, experiences and outcomes…hence what gets into our mind is very important..being positive and forward oriented should the new mantra should be followed to get the desired results.

There are many inspirations around us it just that only few get struck to your mind and inspire you one such inspiration to me is an 80 year old model – Wang Deshun reshapes the definition of aging and shown that there is no limit to stop him 🙂

Mr. Wang has explored new skills and ideas while devoting ample time to daily exercise. He has never let is age to dampen his spirits to take up modeling. Last year, he walked the ramp for the first time, his physique caused a great sensation. He takes obvious joy in subverting of what it means to be old.

He is a great inspiration to show that determination is the key to avoid stagnation in life. Nature just determines the age and according to one of my friend Subhash is just the number of revolutions we make around the sun. I would say we should be consistent to develop our passion to learn anything under the sun that would add values to our lives and not let the physical disabilities to stop us from achieving..

As the year 2016 ends..its time for us to retrospect and reinforce that we are and should be responsible for what we are and want to be .  If we have not harnessed our potential to the maximum in this year its time make a new plan and always remember that YOU ARE YOUR OWN LIMIT!!!

A days trip to Mallahalli Falls

Mallahalli Waterfalls…one of the most beautiful, clean water falls we have seen in recent past..a must go place

It’s about 260kms from Bangalore near so warped, about 5.5 hours journey from Bangalore

We started at 6.30am in the morning and took the route

Bangalore- Channarayapatna- Holenarasipura- Arakalgod-Shanivarasante- Kukkesubramanya via bisle ghat

This route is very scenic and every stretch wants you to get down from the car and capture and make memories

We had breakfast at hotel Dhruvatare at Yediyur..ambience is awesome, tasty food, clean toilets.. (this is about 2 hours journey from Bangalore)

We carried packed lunch as you won’t get any decent hotels once you cross yediyur and this was our first time driving via arkalgod..

The entrance to the waterfalls is very clean with ample car parking and as you enter the steps which goes down you are invited to the roars

Of the waterfalls

As you climb down about 10-15 steps you are hit with the first glimpse of water falls and you experience love at first site with it

Here river Kumaradhara flows from Kodagu and reaches Kukke Subramanya and then merged with Netravati at Uppinangadi

With zeal you climb down the 800 odd steps to the foothill of the waterfalls and you are awestruck with its beauty

The water falls flows at 2 levels and You cannot get into water as it’s barricaded we had just carried a water bottle and few cashews and of course our mobiles to capture as many videos and snaps

Oh I must mention that you won’t get any mobile network as you near waterfalls..Jio might work but not sure

We spent about 2 hours and after you are done with the waterfalls then comes the challenge to climb back 800steps which seems too steep while coming back..so don’t carry too much as you will find it hard

We felt it was worth the effort…took about 45-60mins to return to car..we left the place and we found a small bridge and stream which was perfect for us to have lunch..play in water and started our return journey back to Bangalore

Enroute we went to konanur to see Cauvery flowing and there was a beautiful hanging bridge..a perfect place for sunset

You can stop for a coffee break at Hotel Mayura at yediyur for an amazing coffee

Our ETA to Bangalore at 9.30pm

You can do this trip in one day if you and your partner love driving and the goal is to soak yourself in nature and pull out some quality time out of our hectic life

Inherent Goodness of Being Human

Hey Sis , I lost my wallet ?? I Dont know where exactly I lost it??

When I hear my brother say it my only thought was how will he reach home from airport and what will he do for money?? Nothing else bothered at that moment for us.

He realized that he lost his wallet at airport coffee shop, but this realization happened when he was inside the flight, the flight crew assured him and gave him the toll free number to contact lost and found department to his dismay nobody answered the calls and flight took off..

Kudos to his presence of mind in time of panic he still blocked the cards and managed to reach home safely. Feeling relieved we thought this too shall pass..and he will get another set of cards but the money he had in his wallet was gone..

My brother friend had tweeted about loosing his walled on twitter on the same day…in a world of social media, miracles still happen..there was series of instant replies from the airport..last Friday they replied saying they found the wallet and we could collect with a copy of boarding pass..

Today when we went to collect with an authorization letter and boarding pass the wallet was intact. Cash of Rs. 1200/- all the ID Proofs, Cards and even the small change in the purse was just in its place..this was utter surprise to me could not believe my eyes..I had lost all hopes that when It struck like flash of what my mother said “Dont worry gal, we will get it back”…I envied her optimism and confidence.

All this happened at Alta Vista Coffee Shop at Kempegowda International Airport, Bangalore ( https://www.facebook.com/BLRairport ), it was a aha moment for me on the good Samaritan gesture…anyone could have easily misused the cards, cash but what fascinated it the culture code which the airport has set in all its employees and its retail partners..which has reflected in their actions. Their gesture was a reason to believe in the goodness of their partners..

@BLRairport thank you being so caring

I am sure there must have been many such positive experiences, how many of us take time to out call out and express our gratitude to the community that cares and supports us

I feel proud that I am living in a society which still responds to our emotions and not getting lost in era of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning.

Ashwini’s Affirmation – The roots of all goodness lie in the soil of appreciation for goodness

Are you living in Harmony??

A question that I asked myself when I listening to the audiolinks of great orators who spoke on Body Mind, Heart and Spirit to me its was areality check.

I was wondering why is it important to have a harmony between Body, Mind, Heart and Soul [BMHS], After lot of deliberation I realized that having the right balance is the key to ultimate happiness or wellness .

Being Happy means a lot of things to lot of people…some find happiness in materialistic pleasures, whereas for some others happiness is being kind, empathetic. To have rewarding life we must truly find the right balance between Body, Mind, Heart and Spirit.

Why don’t we do it?? Because we don’t have time…yes we don’t have time to pay attention to our inner instincts. In a way we cut of the dialogue between them and imbalance our lives filled with only Logic and reasoning to take our decisions…and if our decisions doesn’t yield desired results uninvited guests like stress, anxiety, depression and fear make their way into our lives.

why search for outside when the Divine has bestowed us with the BODY, MIND , HEART & SPIRT which can help harness the energy that allows us to grow and flourish

When Vishnu Saraf (Trueweight) said “Don’t Starve yourself and be mindful of what you are eating”. It occurred to me that Body is the index of wellbeing of Mind Heart and Spirit. Our physical body is a complex structure that’s beholds the spirit ,heart and mind. Any Dis– ease in one of them is directly reflected upon the body. Feed self with only right thoughts, positive emotions.

Focusing on only additions (+ve), deletion (-ve) naturally happens..and the body is at ease always

The mind can functionat different levels, it is the thought mechanism that drives us to experience,it works with the brain and the soul. Mind is a storehouse of memories of ouractions and over a period of time it also becomes the memory bank which influencesour future actions.

“We take decisions based on our belief system and our actions areinspired by them” as said by Rovin Pulikken Sr.Director Tektronix. Mindexpands its horizons based on the knowledge, expectations and thats power ofassociations.

Mind is capable ofexcluding ourselves out of a situation and have an eagle view (30000 feetview), peer level view (15000 feet ) and grass level view…the quality ofdecisions , actions derived from such different level approach makes us unique.

No Beauty shine brighter than a that of a great heart…The Heartwhich is an epicenter always right yet being on the left side of body. Heartwhich enriches our lives through emotions, inspiration, expression, relationship, gratitude and generosity. “Being successful is not about how much weearn but its how much of difference we bring in others life” saysDr.Aloma Lobo.

The soul is the core of our being. By connecting to our instinct and raising our consciousness is a way to nourishes the spirit The result is we become happy both inside and outside. We are able to find the true meaning of our lives, happiness is gained and spread around us. “Investment on yourself will enrich you to be a better version of yourself, never allow your spirit to get dampened by the failure..FAIL is first attempt in Learning” says Mr. Bhaskar Rao, Police Commissioner

Ashwini Affirmations: The BODY, MIND, HEART & SOUL are said to be in Harmony If we are Mindful, Realization of life purpose, Raised consciousness and no fear of uncertainty. If we are able to do this we are definitely in store of a blissful life.

Diversity – The Art of thinking independently together

We the KAIZEN’s met at Infinitea at Indiranagar on May 24th 2019. This meeting happened after lot of rescheduling and the draw to the meeting was stronger than giving up made us to meet. Thanks to Tejas for suggesting this nice cosy place and I am sure we made it vibrant with our presence.

It was a diversified meeting as we were a bunch of positive and likeminded people passionate to achieve the best in life. Admist of Chit Chatting in came in a question popped by Vinod Das (The Blogger) How many of you make your bed?- Most of us raised hands as we all had watched a video by a Naval officer which had become sensational and I was recalling Charles Duhigg saying “Making your bed every morning  is correlated with better productivity, a greater sense of wellbeing”. Everyone agreed how such a small habit can set the tone for the day and make us more productive.

The conversations started to flow, it was time for our little chirping bird , Ravishing Rachita Shulka who was bubbling up to share her significant professional success and how she was able to get an high profiled eminent speaker on board all by herself for her conference as independent curator. Her energy is always contagious and she brings smile on everyone face through her Tik Tok videos.

While we all where feeling very happy for her..in came another surprise from the most Consistent man of our group Passionate Pankaj Mishra who had been on a mission to get an important certification which catapults him to next level. Kudos to this high josh man who is a quick learner and gives all of himself in everything he does and his perseverance make him a good leader..while he was being grateful to TILT, Kaizen and Vinod Das who is mentoring him to become a blogger, helped him to up his communication..

It was time for us also to be grateful to Versatile Vinod DasThe Blogger (R.I.C.H – Right Impact to Change Hearts  rightimpacttochangehearts.com) who is a leader of stature, calm, composed, committed, consistent and the list goes on..he is a leader whom we can always look up to… when I asked to share about his thoughts on achieving 100 blogs & his new role..he says TILT has played a pivotal role in his life and by way of observing people you can learn many things in life… he continued to say everything begins and ends in mind. You can achieve anything even when in Chaos. I was in awe with him when I heard in saying that he was on 66 day challenge to be on time…and how the initial 10 days are very hard on any habit building and how we have embrace it…

And in came in a soft voice from the Peaceful Peter Harrisson who had an different ideology about habit formation, specially when you enforce an activity it becomes very hard to accept it and it should be formed naturally and you should not have time limits..he was referring to Atomic habits where you achieve 1% progress every day and not be bound with any specific timeline.

Agreeing to what Peter said in came in a husky voice from Terrific Tejas Sudhindra who is making his presence felt in real estate space through his creative strategies. He said having bulls eye focus on goals is very crucial if we have to reach next level.

When I looked at my watch it was 9.15pm already, time had flown and It was time we heard from Vibrant Varun who was recovering from a bout of illness and lost a quiet a few kilos because of liquid diet. He is waiting to bounce back to get back to work and waiting to create milestones in his career. Wishing him a speedy recovery and all the best for his career.

Sipping Assam Gold tea and Cheese chilli toast we all felt so energized and somewhere at the back of my mind I was feeling low that wish we could have more such meetings and I could have been a better Joint Leader for this group…but that’s beauty of having likeminded people you can always expose the vulnerability and yet be authentic. When you are on a learning curve you learn quickly and fail fast which helps us to mature by putting all the learnings to practice..

This day was a moment to cherish for all of us as most of us had some spectacular success stories shared and inspiring each other.. As Maya Angelou mentions “In Diversity there is beauty and there is strength” we KAIZENS are diversified and yet we stand united to be better leaders by being more consistent, committed and collaborative… it was time to say sayonara and the god of rain had mercy on us we said goodbyes and left gleaming.

Are they different.. yes, they are one is just proximity match without any commitment. Whereas relationship is and investment to make other commit to point where we can build a social bonding. While term Relationship has an universal appeal and used by many in many ways to various context.

I feel in our country a girl right from her adolescent, gets expose to relationship in depth…it’s her learning in this nascent years gets her ready for a big unknown future which is VUCA (volatile, unknown, chaotic and ambigous) to her.

She being the empowered one and so called human formation of Durga Dasabhuja (One with ten hands) balance all complexity to scale Up to the expectations of various relationships by ticking all right boxes…But is that easy? Well no…A  “Good and healthy Relationship…just don’t happen, they take their own time, mechanics and patience of 2 people who truly want to make in happen”

One of the major turning point in a woman’s life when she gets married….in no time…she has a new environment to settle down with new family to get acquainted, traditions to follow & new beliefs to adhere… which is really overwhelming.

Right from day one, she has to prove herself that she is the Perfect Bahu (daughter in law)…and that’s when the whole act of balancing looks like a big mountain to her…this very sense disturbs every woman most of the times.  To make the puzzle more complicated a sense of confusion will persist in choosing the path to tread further…the one which she is walking or the new one which has etched out because of new relationship… How do you decide which one to choose?

Once I was walking with my mother in law (MIL) in the new locality where we had just moved not many people had known us and one of the neighbor told my mother in law that your daughter takes care of you very nicely and she was shocked and then she clarified that I am her daughter in law and the lady was amused to see how we both are made for each other…..thats when it occurred to me that what did we do different to take the relationship to this level…when I look at from MIL perspective she had made up her mind that she would be a very supportive and doting mother in law..she wanted her daughter in laws to achieve everything in life and be successful, she saw her success in my success.

When you ask me I think its just that we must accept people as who they are and not expect them to change for our needs…by doing this Life becomes so beautiful and we just have to celebrate and enjoy the journey.

Of course relationship doesn’t happen just like that…it happens with TRUST and TIME…unless you decide set things right in the relationship. Perceptions about others can be like termites…if you don’t treat them at the initial stages its just makes it hollow…Mind is meaning making machine, stop making the perceptions that we have made up in our minds about the other person, because you never know what exactly they have been through… A real relationship has many facets like trust, faith, love, pain, patience, arguments, tears…

“A Strong relationship requires choosing to love each other; even in those moments when you struggle to like each other”

Women is a full circle…

You have everything to take the world in your stride!!!

You are a beautiful creation of the God! The angel on the earth makes life a wonderful experience all together. Women’s day is celebrated with so much of zeal and it has spread throughout the world.

A woman in herself is a full circle and complete within herself she has inside her the potency to fight for whatever is right! Her strength, I would like to illustrate with an metaphor.

There was a warm egg in the nest of an eagle which was about to hatch, and then a farmer who lived nearby took out the egg and kept it with his hen’s eggs which were also about to hatch. After quite some time the gets hatched and they started following their mother and tried as much as to be the way their mother was. The point here to note is that that the baby eagle never knew that it was from eagle family. Though their mother had realized the eagle’s different behavior but she never acknowledged it. One day the baby eagle saw an eagle flying powerfully high into the sky and it was amazed at the strength she was possessing and wished to be an eagle in the next birth so as to have such unwavering strength. The baby eagle never realized its strength for it always believed that it belonged to the hen’s family. The, gist of the story says that we women are the baby eagles born to an eagle’s family not knowing that we possess the same strength as that of the eagle’s family.

Start Living your life on your terms, it’s high time!!

Happy Women’s Day to the superwoman’s out there…. 🙂

New Year..

After an eventful year coming to an end, another year of new hopes, aspirations, resolutions have started cropping up in all of us. When this thought of New Year Resolutions sways around.. I have always wondered why it is done only during this time and not all through the year..just then I hit at a saying “A Journey of thousand miles begins with a single step”…a resolution can be one such single step which aligns our mind, body and soul to the direction that we want to tread for the new year to come…

A Year end is neither a end nor a beginning but it is going around with all the collective wisdom that experience can instill in us. As years , months and days pass by each of us evolve and the quest of discovering oneself is very crucial as I strongly believe that if we are not understood by ourselves then expectations from others to align to our thought process seems ridiculous..I wish everyone should have this self discovery or self exploration of Who Am I?? as a resolution every year, months and days as we progress..Ones ability to carry out the resolution long after the excitement of the moment has passed defines the character of the person..I hope each one us have the strong zeal of carrying out the resolutions that we have determined to achieve in 2017…

“You are never too old to set another Goal or to dream a new dream- Carl Lewis”

Wish You all a Happy & A Prosperous New Year…
